Can I Buy a Garmin GPS in US and Later Use in India Downloading India Maps?

Have any one tried this or is it technically possible? I am planning to buy nuvi 780, which I wish to use in India when I go back by loading the maps.

    yes, this is possible. make sure the gps has the right maps and you should be fine.

    newelectronx put the right maps in mine for me when I ordered it :)
